An investment in your future
Our intensive course, covering skills from practical furniture making to design and commercial skills, is the equivalent of at least three years at college. Our syllabus is designed to be more effective than other furniture making courses in both the UK and internationally.
We achieve this through a commitment to:
- One-to-one tuition with expert and experienced tutors
- Foundation building – transfer of solid woodworking skills to world class levels
- Practical bench-work (up to 1400 hours)
- Restricted class intake (only 20 students per year)
This approach allows us to provide students with a future in furniture in only 36 weeks (including Christmas and Easter breaks).
Course Fees
Evidence of your ability to cover course fees and living expenses is naturally a pre-requisite of enrolment.
The course fee of £16,950 covers:
- all tuition
- the use of hand and machine tools
- all materials (within reason) that the school provides for course work
- entrance fees to museums and private houses
If you have any concerns about the benefits of our furniture making course, watch our School Videos and read our Student Feedback. Alternatively, send in an enquiry form or call us on (44) 0 1620 810680.
New Grant for Ex-Armed Forces Students
Service men and women from the Army, Navy or Air Force can now apply for a new grant of £1,000 to £2,000 towards their fees for the School’s furniture course. We qualify for this grant because the School has Approved Learning Provider status for former members of the Armed Forces (through the MOD Enhanced Learning Credit (ELC) Scheme). Please contact us or visit www.enhancedlearningcredits.com for more details on the application process.
Tools and Equipment
Chippendale School provides most of the tools you will need to become proficient in woodworking and furniture making. The only tools that a student is required to purchase are a set of Pfeil carving chisels (£180) and an Airshield Respirator (£200).
Board and Lodgings in the area
The cost of board and lodgings in the area is approximately £4500 depending on the accommodation. The Chippendale School is a well known part of the community and we have a range of approved accommodation which we can put you in touch with.
Course Payment Schedule
A deposit of £3,000, payable on enrolment, secures a place on the course. The balance of tuition, £13,950 is payable within two weeks of the start of the course.
Why an intensive course makes more financial sense.
We’ve designed the course to provide you with the best value possible. For those changing career, a 3-year course is often unaffordable (loss of earnings and need to cover living expenses over three years). That's why our furniture course is designed to provide students with the same furniture design and woodworking skill-set in just 9 months with about 30% more practical bench time than other courses can offer over three years.
We believe that these skills are central to our students' success and so we offer up to 1400 hrs over 30 weeks. Visit the student gallery to see what students can achieve during the 30-week course, and bear in mind that not all their work is shown here.
If you have any questions, please contact our friendly staff using our Enquiry Form or call us on (44) 0 1620 810680. To apply for the course fill in the application form on the Apply page.
