Furniture school accommodation
It’s important to us that you enjoy every aspect of your furniture making course, including your living arrangements outside School hours. Isobel Edgar, our student welfare officer, will help you find and get settled into your new home.
There are two accommodation options:
- Rented Property
- Hosted Accommodation
Rented property – sharing or on your own
Many of our students choose to rent a shared flat/apartment in one of the nearby towns such as Haddington or Gifford. The cost of this accommodation ranges between about £250 and £300 per head, per month (excluding food, telephone and fuel. Transport costs vary but should also be budgeted for).
The school also has a network of local landlords who offer two or three bedroom properties suitable for a family, all within a five-mile radius of the furniture school. The average rent per property is about £540 per calendar month (excluding food, telephone and fuel).
Hosted Accommodation - staying with a host family
Over the years the furniture school has built up a network of local host families who offer students a home from home. A comfortable private room with all meals included costs £500 per month in rent.
