Hello, my name is Isobel Edgar. My official job title is Student Welfare Officer, but to the students I am simply Isobel.

 

My job is to make sure the students enjoy their time with us, outside the classroom as well as at their workbench.

 

I help students find the most suitable accommodation, whether that is with one of our many host families, or a three-bedroom family home.

 

If a student needs a second hand car, then I know where to get the best bargains.

 

I can advise on doctors, dentists, and English language lessons. I have helped our students find everything from a bagpipe teacher to a nursery place for a three-year-old child.

 

And I make sure that our students make the most of their stay in East Lothian by introducing them to the best local pubs, clubs and societies.

 

I am on hand throughout the school day to help students and I organise our weekly visits Scotland’s best museums, workshops and private collections.

 

I have been with Chippendale International School of Furniture for nearly 15 years now. Over that time I have helped over 200 students, from across the world, to make the most of their time with us.

 

It is the best job in the world.
